  • I was considering purchasing a new gas grill but in the end decide to rebuild my current gill with new burners and a new valve, etc. It was much more cost effective than replacement with the savings then applied to a dedicated smoker. The only problem with this was that I wouldn't be able to have dedicated high temperature sear station with my current grill so I've invested in a set of grill grates to boost my current grills surface temperature using grill grates. So far, so good with my new grill grates as it does exactly what it said it would by boosting temperatures. I often cook steaks using the sous vide method and sear them on my grill at maximum temperature. With the new grill grates, I get much higher temperatures and achieve a much better sear than I did before which is essential for steaks prepared using a sous vide method. Miraculously flare ups have also been nearly eliminated just as advertised. So far, I'm very happy with their performance and the only reason I didn't give them five stars is that they are relatively expensive. Knowing what I know now, if I had to do it again I would replace only half the cooking surface (and not the whole surface) since that is all I've used so far. One additional recommendation, my current brushes will only clean the surface of the grates (and not into the valleys) so I plan to buy the dedicated brush sold for them and would recommend everyone to purchase them with your new grates and save the shipping later.

  • I’ve come to really enjoy reverse searing my meats. GrillGrates work perfectly. I move my meat from my pellet grill set at 180/200 when it reaches 120 degrees internal to my gas grill with the GrillGrates on it, turned up to 500/600 degrees. Sear each side for a few minutes and perfection. Tender and juicy. Steaks, pork sirloin steaks, chicken. Inexpensive and high quality!!! Buy a set, you won’t regret it and it will change your backyard cooking chops!

  • I don't have a top of the line grill but I do like my Sam's hybrid. These grill grates have made a mediocre grill into a great pleasure. I grill about 5 days a week until the Nebraska winter forces me to stop. They are easy to clean and maintain and are awesome to cook on with it's versatility. I will definitely buy these again when I can invest in a quality propane grill and have highly recommended them to others.

  • Fitting perfectly in my LG900, replacing 1 of the original grates. Placed directly over the opened Flame Broiler it's a hell fire, so take care for your Steaks!

  • Just bought the CC Sear Box, and installed it on my RecTeq 590 Smoker. The sear box comes with a thin cast iron 'grate'. The Grill Grates are the perfect addition to the sear box. Heats up fast, works like a champ. The sear box WITH the Grill Grates allowed me to get rid of my Weber Gasser. If you have a CC Sear Box, you gotta get these Grill Grates.

  • My steak was my first cook in the GrillGrates. Not knowing what exactly to expect after reading that they cooked hotter than the standard grates that came with my GMG. So I gradually brought my temperature up, with the grates on, and measured with a infrared until the grates reached my grilling temp. Not only was I amazed with the sear marks but more than happy with the tenderness and outstanding flavor. I added a few pellets in the grate valleys and was a happy camper. So after that first cook and I saw the potential, I ordered them for my Daniel Boone Pellet Grill. It’s first cook was Spatchcock chicken. Best move on my part. They do what they advertise. Love them.

  • I have the full set of these, 5, for my Masterbuilt 1050. As others have reported, they grates themselves will work as designed, but the issue is that in conjunction with the way the Masterbuilt 1050 is designed, you can run into heating issues. The grates appear to cover enough of the surface area in the 5 pack setup that how the temperature is sensed by the Mastebuilt will make it think its up to 700 degrees (say max setting) but in reality the grates are no where close to that at all when measured. Raising the grates up to the second rack relative to where the temp probe is, you get a much better heat of the grates. Some have tried separating the grates to allow some room to see if that helps with heat detection by the temp probe, and it seemed a 2 x 2 setup worked better, leaving space in the middle and pushing the grates more to the "right" when facing the grill. So in short, grates are excellent, just functionality with the actual grill could be better. ++++++++++++++++++++ Great feedback! This is a new grill and I think we'll learn more as we go. Lots of happy Masterbuilt customers!

  • I have a new camp chef 36” woodwind. The GrillGrate website told be to buy the 15.375” size for a perfect fit. My measurements were more like 19”. Customer service at grill grate told me to trust their sizing After receiving the grates I still don’t feel that the grates fit as I would have expected. They are much smaller than the existing grates and has to sit directly on top of the heat shielding. Sausages and hotdogs roll off of it and down below the heat shield. (Then I have to remember to get them out after the grill has cooled and before the flies take over—yuck). Flipping burgers is hard because the grate, when on the “flattop side” , slides around. I have watched the videos and they seem to have the much larger size. For me, this tool is looking like something I will only use occasionally to sear marks into steaks, (which it does very well) but not to grill any other backyard favorites. +++++++++++++++++++ We'll re-look at our recommendations . Wish you had put your name we'd be reaching out to you. GrillGrates on pellet grills are meant to go on top. If you read this Dean- call us! or email info@grillgrate.com

  • This product works as advertised and has turned my Traeger 575 Pro into a more versatile grilling machine. The GrillGrates have worked as advertised!

  • Of course I love my 22" kettle grillgrates!

    MF Mellon • 09/14/2020

  • Bag is thin and cheaply made. The interior pocket too small for the grill grate spatula and ripped. Wasted money on my part. This inferior product just diminishes your brand. +++++++++++++++++ Brad here- Please call our office for a replacement. We sell many bags to store and carry GG. Hard to image the blunt tool ripping the bag. A knife maybe. Call us Brent!

  • These went beyond my expectations. They truly did change how the grill performs , they eliminate flare ups and do produce amazing grill marks. As an added benefit the two end pieces mate together to fit perfectly on my Kamado Joe Jr! Quality product, thank you.

  • This product certainly does help, somewhat, in making up for the temperature woes of a pellet grill. But make no mistake, this isn't going to turn your pellet grill into a day to day high temp grill; or overcome the shortcomings of a pellet grill by any means ++++++++++++++++++++++ Brad here. Older pellet grills this is the case- many wheeze to get to 400F- its hard to amp that up. BUT today's pellet grills from Rectec, Traeger, Pitboss, Camp Chef- they all really pop the heat with GrillGrates.

  • I purchased the grillgrates for a family member who also like to grill. They grilled ribeyes, veggies, and marinated short ribs. Totally amazed with the evenness of the cooking with no flareups and the signature sear marks.

  • I do a lot of direct heat cooking with custom made hibachi. It was a challenge to keep the heat high while keeping flareups from occurring and overcooking everything. Order grillgrates that were custom-sized for the dimensions of my hibachi. It works as advertised.. I'm able to get that grill heat between 550 and 600 degrees with no flare up while cooking thick and fatty USDA choice ribeye cuts with awesome looking crosshatch sear marks. I also grilled Japanese a5 wagyu steaks and they came out great with no flare ups even with all that marbleized fat. Totally satisfied with this purchase.
