Seasoning
Once the Sear’NSizzle® GrillGrate has come up to temp, cut an onion in half and rub it on the tops of the rails. This is the best way to season new GrillGrates. You can also lightly use high-heat oils such as canola oil, grapeseed oil, or duck fat spray on a paper towel. Do not use extra virgin olive oil as it has a low smoke point.
Warming Up Suggestions
For medium heat cooks such as chicken and pork, place the Sear’NSizzle® GrillGrate on top and turn the heat to high or medium-high depending on how hot your flat top gets.
To achieve max heat for the best sear on steaks and burgers, preheat the flat top on high heat first, and then place the Sear’NSizzle® GrillGrate.
GRATETIP: Place the Sear’NSizzle® GrillGrate on the flattest part of the surface and/or the hottest known spot for best results. To find the hottest spot
Cleaning
Unlike traditional grills, you may want to do a simple clean after each use. Soaking in hot soapy water will help remove major debris and excess oil. Use a scraper, scrubby, or GrateTool to knock off baked-on debris. Do NOT place hot Sear’NSizzle® GrillGrates into water. The shock will warp the grate.

I bought this to add to my Flat Top Griddle. They fit perfectly, yes they have a little gap on the and bottom but that is fine. The problem that I had was the heat transfer from the Griddle surface to the Grill Grates. The Griddle Top was at 650, but the Grill Grates were only ever able to hit 425. So for the Griddle it was a bust, however I took the Grill Grates over to my Woodwind Grill and removed the heat shield. On the Woodwind I was able to get the Grill Grates up to 600 and they worked well. Clean up is just the problem without the holes in the grates.

HI Steve- Surprised you only saw 425F on your Blackstone. We’ve seen a lot of success with them. We do point out not to cold start them- meaning place GG and then get the flattop hot. It won’t get to max temps as the GG are exhausting heat faster than the Blackstone can get hot. One other thing to note is that there are hotspots on your Blackstone- use the GrillGrates on the hot spot. Glad you like them on the Woodwind. Our valley brush will take care of that build-up. We appreciate your feedback. I will email you this to make sure you see it. Brad

Ordered for my 36″ blackstone. Was expecting it to fit the full grill front to back but it doesnt. Leaves a gap front and back but that’s ok. Works good with amazing heat transfer.

Brad here: Good point and to answer the length issue we decided not to go exact as there are so many Blackstones some with Lips, some not AND we find that many are using them sideways to find the flattest spot on their Blackstone. Some Blackstones have quite the high spot in the middle.
