The Best Grilling Accessory You’ll Ever Buy for your Camp Chef Woodwind.

Nobody wants a burnt or dry meal. Flare-ups can quickly ruin any backyard cookout. At GrillGrate, we believe that grilling should be easy, fun, and stress-free – every time. All you need is GrillGrates for your grill.

We call them “sear stations” for a reason; GrillGrates turn pellet smokers into pellet grills. They trap and concentrate heat and conduct it up the rails for great searing while the valleys sizzle juices for added flavor. GrillGrates typically add 100 degrees or more at the grate surface on pellet grills. Every set comes with a GrateTool which is part fork, part spatula that fits between the rails to get under your food and lift it without scraping. Here’s how:

  • Non-stick Hard Anodized Aluminum Interlocking Panels
  • Two-in-One Surface; Rails Side Up for Traditional Grilling & Flat Side for Flat Top Griddling
  • Rust Resistant Material

Benefits:

  • Faster cooking
  • Simpler grilling with better results
  • Reduced flare-ups
  • Versatility
  • Easy to use and clean
  • Light and transportable

Your Grill, But Better. As opposed to traditional grill surfaces that merely just hold the food above the heat source, GrillGrates concentrate heat through the patented raised rail design cooking food faster and more evenly. GrillGrate’s air flow vents and flat side work together to trap grease, prevent charring, and block those pesky flare-ups that tend to engulf and dry out food. When we say better, juicier food every time – we mean it! It is central to the innovative design of this grate. The sizzling-hot valleys vaporize drippings and juices, retaining moisture and enhancing flavor.

Please note: Pellet Grill sear stations do not provide full grill coverage in order to allow ample airflow. In testing, we have found that with too many GrillGrate panels, heat can get trapped. When this happens, the fan in the pellet grill turn off, which ultimately turns off the grill.

GRILLGRATES FOR Pellet Smokers

We turn a pellet smoker into a pellet GRILL!

GrillGrates turn your pellet grill into the most versatile outdoor grill. Secret sauce: no need for two grills for a reverse sear, do it all in one with a sear station on your pellet grill.

Four simple words define our Pellet Smoker sear stations: true high heat grilling. The reversible, hard anodized aluminum grates sit on top of your existing cooking surface and radiate up to an additional 200F of heat. Heat is trapped and conducted up the raised rails while the valleys sizzle juices for added flavor, moisture and tenderness, leading to bold sear marks and a great sizzle every time.  See our top techniques for making the most of GrillGrate Sear Stations here.

QUICK TIP: We do NOT recommend covering the entire surface of your pellet grill with grates, as full coverage could block critical air flow. This is why you'll notice our pellet grill Sear Stations are made to accessorize the existing grill surface, not replace it.

BONUS: Use GrillGrates rails up for traditional grilling, or flip them over for masterful flat top griddling. When you're done cooking on GrillGrates, cleaning your grill surface is easier than ever.

Confidence

Never burn a steak again. The flame shield eliminates flare-ups. And the raised rails deliver the perfect sear.

FLEXIBILITY

GrillGrates can be configured to your needs. Create independent heat zones by separating the grates. Even flip over for an instant griddle!

DURABILITY

Made from anodized aluminum, these grates will never rust out. When properly seasoned, they are non-stick and easy to clean.

Cooked bunch of Veggies with unexpected great success, doubtful of searing use, due to sidekick installed.

I recently bought a Camp Chef Woodwind 24″ Wifi pellet grill. I used (and liked) GrillGrates on my previous grill (a Weber Genesis gas grill) … and I like the idea of being able to use them on the Woodwind to up the potential sear temperature on it when not cooking low and slow (I would remove them for that kind of cook).

One thing though on the depth measurement of the recommended set for the Woodwind 24″ … the depth of the Woodwind drip pan is roughly 15-1/2″ which leaves 1-1/2″ on each end (front and back) which could potentially allow grease drippings to miss the drip pan and fall down into the base of the grill (which is not a good thing). So I’m thinking that buying 3 – 15″ GG panels would be the way to go to make sure this doesn’t happen. Thoughts?

I have found that grillgrates work best at higher temps when searing. The directions state the grillgrates should be placed on the stackside of the grill, yet the picture shows it placed on the opposite side – away from the stack. Which is correct? Also, how much do grillgrates affect the temperature and heat flow when smoking? Should grillgrates be removed during a long smoke at low temperatures?

Brad- we private messaged you. We’ll check the picture. Stack side placement yields most heat bump. If no stack then center them. We don’t suggest GG on low and slow- they actually speed up the cook. They are sear stations for grilling primarily. Brad

This setup does not cover the grill surface of your woodwind. You are better off measuring your surface area and ordering accordingly. I ended up ordering this without having the grill yet. When I finally had both of the products together, the 3 18.5″ basically cover the area of the drip tray. I ended up ordering another 18.5″ and a gap to cover the whole surface.

I found, but haven’t proven, you can fit the 19.25″ x 4 and a gap piece and that would cover the existing grill surface.

Brad here from GG- For most pellet grills we suggest 3 panel sear stations that don’t cover the entire grill. You can as you suggest add more and often you will see the Pellet Grill run hotter as a result. Some try to not go beyond the drip tray to avoid grease from getting to the bottom of the grill. I personally never had an issue with that.
